Rural mobility stations

SNCF entrusted AREP Design with a research project on the mobility of tomorrow in rural areas.

This mission specifically focused on the station as a facilitator and catalyst for alternative mobility options, centred on sharing, solidarity, and local proximity (car-sharing, carpooling, and organised hitchhiking).

The work includes an exploratory phase to define the issues and challenges, informed by workshops, field immersions, benchmarking, and a conceptual phase followed by an on-site experiment. This culminated in the installation of two “rural furniture” demonstrators in mid-2023, as part of a “user laboratory” initiative.
